New Year’s Resolutions
|
1. Lose an extra 10 pounds of hype. Just like extra calories can add to weight gain over time, brands can also be subject to hype gain. Resolve to help your brand lose some.
2. Stop blowing smoke. Empty claims and chest-thumping statements don’t build strong brands.
3. Exercise your value proposition. Now is a good time to take your brand promise to the next level…by adding two or three initiatives that actually demonstrate the value of the promise.
4. Talk less, listen more. Go where your customers are, and listen closely. You just might hear what they are interested in, giving you some insight on what your brand can do to connect in more meaningful ways.
5. Innovate when no one is pushing you. Innovation can be reactive or proactive. We’re all pretty good at reactive innovation (it’s called survival). What new value can we create?
