Social Media Perspectives.

It’s nearly impossible to go 24 hours without hearing “social media,” “Facebook,” or “Twitter” uttered in conversation. And we’re willing to bet you’ve formed some opinions about this evolving communication medium, whether that be, “Love it love it can’t live without it,” “Don’t even want to hear birds tweeting anymore,” or “I’m a little overwhelmed and am not sure if or how to dive in.”

We have differing opinions inside our office, too. To find out more, we asked our team to provide their thoughts on social media through true Twitter style—in 140 characters or less.

So, what do you think of social media?

Love the opportunities they present, hate the time they consume (and all the frivolous posts). I’m curious to see how many/which sites last.
an amazing way to connect with people and businesses. my terms. my time.
Stalking is so much easier now.
Another means to “connect” (in a meaningful way when done correctly) with communities that matter to you and yours.
Like that it’s pushing companies to be accountable for their products and services. Online shopping + customer reviews = heaven.
Good and Bad. Good because it connects and reconnects people. Bad because it discourages personal interface.
Social media is a great way to communicate value, expertise and relevant information to a large amount of people.
Puts your brand both in the spotlight and under a microscope. Transparency and open, honest communication are keys to success and survival.
It’s easy to keep up w/ friends around the globe thru Facebook. Argentina, Netherlands, Spain, Uganda & Honduras among others!
Good source of information on any subject you can think of, but BEWARE no good way to prove accuracy if anyone off the street can upload it.
Some of the social media outlets are relevant and helpful. Some seem to be just what they are—social.
Aagh! Social situations r hard enough w/o broadcasting my innermost thoughts to the whole world! Who cares what I think anyway?
SM allows me to engage on my own terms-when-how and if I want to—I pull the intangible into my very own world—can’t beat that!
Narcissistic.Vacuous.Distracting.Pale substitute for hug, handshake, eye contact, conversation. Maybe useful? Fun.Unavoidable.Help us.Amen.
Great way to gain information and connect w/ people. Lots of opportunities to use it to your advantage, but still lots of bugs to work out.
To Tweet or not to? Not even the question. We’re social animals. We’ll always find inventive ways to stay in touch. Be brief bold gone.
I got involved because I had to know what my kids were doing, then I got hooked. Excited because it’s a whole new world and I feel connected.
As the mother of 3 teenagers/young adults, here’s what I think: No one talks to anyone anymore; everything is texting/tweeting/facebooking!
When I think of social media, I get a bit panicked. I know it’s here, and it’s not going away—and I’m dreadfully not entrenched.
Don’t tweet to tweet or anything else. Have a purpose, a goal, reason for partaking. But, do learn and listen or get left in the dust.
I love facebook—gives me a glimpse of my kids’ lives that I don’t otherwise get, which is especially true of my son in college.
Love it. It can be mind-boggling as to how many connections you can make with people all over the world.
