New Faces

Jeff Marvel
Account Director
Passion for building and creating things, and a desire to help people realize their full potential, are what motivate Jeff. Sometimes that may entail stepping out of his comfort zone or perhaps, inspiring others to step out of theirs. The result? Great brands like Suave, Finesse and Thermasilk. After very successful stints at Unilever and Proctor & Gamble, in positions ranging from brand manager to national account director, Jeff brings more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience to Miller Brooks’ clients.
With a B.A. in Telecommunications from Indiana University, and an M.B.A. in Marketing Strategy from Kellogg School of Management, Jeff continues to enjoy soaking up information, especially anything from Seth Godin. Jeff and Andrea, high-school sweetheart turned wife (of 25 years!), have two children. Their daughter Abby is a senior at Indiana University. They adopted their now eighth-grade son, Jack, from Romania when he was just two years old. The family loves traveling locally and abroad. An amateur musician, Jeff plays a set of red electronic drums—a gift from his family in lieu of a red convertible—whenever he can. After leaving Elvis’ last concert—which happened to be here in Indy—Jeff announced that he would go to Elvis’ last concert, no matter what. Maybe there’s a little psychic ability beyond all of that marketing know-how…

Ryan Heath
Public Relations Account Executive
What do you get when you combine a Bachelor’s in journalism from Indiana University with great reporting experience and extensive public relations experience that includes press events, speaker scripts, and online content development and management? You get the PR talent that is Ryan Heath. With nearly eight years of experience, Ryan’s background covers a variety of industries from transportation and logistics, to public policy, healthcare and building materials.
With a brand new son named Dylan, Ryan and wife Cami are enjoying the new-found kid-focused things they get to do (and helping their first-born, a Boston Terrier named Oswald Cornelius—Ozzy for short—come to terms with being an older sibling). A “band geek” from Cicero, Ind., Ryan still plays clarinet at least once a year as a member of the IU Marching Hundred Alumni Band. And, you’ll find him riveted by horror movies and live performances of Night of the Living Dead—but not haunted houses. If you ever get a chance, ask him about the interview he did with a group of ghost hunters in Bloomington… it’s a good one.

Karen Grant
Account Manager
A self-described “shy” person, Karen has been knee-deep in the decidedly outward field of advertising for only a mere 20 years or so. From operations and finance, to production and traffic, Karen has worked in nearly every department of an agency, and especially enjoys account management. Graduating from Indiana University with a B.A. in Telecommunications and a minor in French, Karen is a strategic communicator who thrives on the challenges clients send her way.
And speaking of challenges, Karen has taken on a few here and there outside of work, too. Like living out of her truck for four months. Born and raised in Lowell, Ind., Karen fell in love with Denver (and traveling) when she went there at 15. So, when an opportunity came for her to move to Denver in 2000, she took two months traveling cross-country and camped wherever she wanted to—like 18 days in Yosemite, where the first night there it was a bone-chilling 27º F. When she came back to Indiana five years later, she did the same thing covering the southern part of the country. And although she doesn’t think of it as a challenge, this year marks Karen’s 15th annual week-long trek to Mississippi to work on a Habitat build project—a tradition she started with her father.

Jessica Husek
Copywriter
From print to broadcast to digital, covering industries from manufacturing to pharmaceuticals, and medical diagnostics to financial institutions, Jessica truly has a way with words. An Addy award-winning writer, Jessica graduated from Ball State University with a B.A. in Advertising, with minors in psychology and creative writing. You might say that writing is engrained in her soul, for even when she’s not writing for clients at Miller Brooks, she’s writing essays in non-fiction.
Then there’s also the blog at modnessof9251.com, where she documents the vision and realization of the blood, sweat and tears poured into the mid-century modern home she’s renovating. She is the self-proclaimed Demo Queen, wielding the sledgehammer as needed. She’s no stranger to hard work, being raised on a 40-acre farm in Anderson. When Jessica’s not putting pen to paper (or sledgehammer to wall), she takes in the occasional morning matinee, or indulges in various reality TV series with cat Lucy, aka Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Yep, she’s a huge Beatles fan, attending multiple festivals every year. Hey, wonder if she’ll ever be a Paperback Writer?
Meet our intern:
Brady Webster
A recent graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., Brady is an intern in our public relations department. With a B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations, Brady hopes to soon work in the PR department of an advertising agency—or even work in sports marketing for a football team or other organization. He is enjoying the life of a newlywed (just four months!), and learning how to be a huge Michigan football fan while being married to a Michigan State fan in the great state of Indiana. All we can offer is: “good luck with that one, Brady!”
